There’s a simple lesson which we can get from dogs. They’re always game. No excuses for them. If you’re about to leave the house, the dog is there with you wanting to get out. If you’re going out for a jog or a walk, they’d be there ready to go with you. This is definitely a great example of a winner’s attitude. It happens to everyone, saying they want something but then always finding an excuse not to go for it. We will talk about a great tricep work out next.
The dip is an exercise which is easy to make excuses about. So what if you don’t have a dip station? Dips are doable in a variety of places and we’ll be talking about that. People also look at the dip as a very easy exercise, not enought to really develop their muscles. Here’s a method we can use to make the dip more difficult. Again, let’s look at the dog and use their most common accessory – the dog leash! Any basic dog leash should do the trick. Instead of a dipping belt, we’ll just use a dog leash. Insert the leash into the middle of a plate where the hole is. Now, where you normally hook the leash to the collar, simply hook it instead to the leash handle. Now you have a great durable belt. Now where this “belt” on your waist, above your buttocks and let it hang there in front of you. The weight pulling forward and down should secure the belt and prevent it from sliding down. Not bad for a $5 leash huh?
Next excuse – no dipping station. Do you have a kitchen with a counter? Find the corner of the counter and you can actually place your hands on either side of the counter and do dips there.
How about a squat rack? Adjust the bar so that it’s around the height of your tummy. This even targets your lower pecs more than your usual dip because the motion is directly over your chest. Now lean on your arms and hands while holding the bar about shoulder width apart, assume a normal dip stance, feet crossed and off the floor. Get down and touch the bar to your chest, leaning your upper body forward as you do so, then push up. Make sure to lean forward going down and straighten back up while pushing up so you keep your center of gravity balanced.
The treadmill is also a good choice for dips. This is a dipping station too! Simply use the handles on either side of the running pad.
There are many other ways to do, not just dips, but pretty much any other exercise. AthleanX teaches you how to get around your excuses for not doing certain valuable exercises.
